I’m Martin, founder of MDA Personal Coaching.
I’m a Certified Oxygen Advantage® Functional Breathing Instructor and hold a Level 4 qualification in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise Performance.
I work with individuals who want to improve their health, performance, and wellbeing through practical, sustainable changes in breathing, nutrition, and sleep.
I’ve always had a strong interest in health, fitness, and sport.
Over the years I’ve enjoyed playing sports and being active, with regular hiking and running being a consistent part of my lifestyle. I regularly take part in parkrun each week and run for the enjoyment, how it makes me feel and the physical and mental benefits it provides.
Alongside running, I have been resistance training for over 10 years and regularly engage in HIIT-style training. Through this, I’ve experienced first-hand how powerful nasal breathing and controlled breathing can be in improving exercise efficiency, managing intensity, and supporting recovery.
I have a long-standing personal interest in prioritising health and wellbeing. I practised meditation consistently for over 10 years and experienced significant improvements in my overall health, stress levels, and day-to-day focus.
Before moving into coaching, I had experience of working in a corporate, high-pressure environment. Through that experience, I saw first-hand how valuable breathing techniques can be for maintaining focus, managing stress, and staying calm under time pressure. This is something I still apply personally and now support others with through coaching.
This personal experience led me to explore other areas of health and performance more deeply — particularly breathing, nutrition, recovery, and sleep.
My interest in breathwork developed further in 2020 during the Covid period, where I began practising the Wim Hof Method.
This introduced me to the wider positive impact that breathing can have on the nervous system, resilience, and overall wellbeing.
Since then, through further learning, my own personal experiences and my Oxygen Advantage® training, I’ve developed a deeper understanding that:
Since completing my Oxygen Advantage® certification, I now use functional breathing techniques daily to:
I’ve seen first-hand how effective these methods can be when applied consistently and appropriately.
I also incorporate practices such as cold showers and occasional ice baths as part of my own personal routine which helps me, though I believe it is important to practise what works for you.
While I am at the early stages of my formal coaching journey, the practices and principles I coach are not new to me — they are things I have applied personally over a long period of time.
My coaching is:

You don’t need any prior experience with coaching to work with me.
